TOP & SHORTS: ZARA

I've been repeatedly writing about 'athleisure' because it has always been my personal style. High fashion has transitioned casual sports wear into luxe streetwear, mixing & matching pieces in the two apparels. With such an emphasis on health this era, everyone is turning their vast sportswear collection to daywear.

Ralph Lauren & Lacoste have paved the way for Polo inspired looks with crisp polo shirts, taking inspiration from the courts to the streets.

This wave of preppy clothing was first spotted in Louise Goldin's 2014 ready-to-wear collection with a 'locker room chic' theme referencing vintage tennis knits. It has been popping up on the catwalks of Paris everywhere since. Simon Porte Jacquemus did a tennis dress, Adidas did a French Open inspired Roland Garros tennis dress & Adidas by Stella McCartney did a pleated skirt. Tennis is the new polo.

My look is Zara's 'check' knit shorts & 'bicolor jacquard polo' sweater with a polo collar. I paired this look with perspex pumps & my perspex visor to add a hint of tennis. The tightly woven graphic knit reminds me of the web of a tennis racquet making me feel like the Merchant of Tennis. The perfect orchid purple x canary yellow backdrop brought out the pop of bright violet tones in my shirt & shorts.

When knit happens, get with the program!

CRANE YOUR NECK

OUTFIT: ZARA | MULES: ZARA | BRALETTE: VICTORIA'S SECRET | SUNGLASSES: DIOR

Animal prints never go out of fashion.

The earth animals (leopard, python & crocodile) have conquered the runways for centuries, even butterflies have had their moment, so designers have turned to the skies to seek inspiration. Avian inspired fabrics create a delicate persona, a breath of fresh air & depending on the bird, an exotic print. For years, the most fashion has offered is the beautiful peacock print. In Fall 2015, Gucci strutted a bird embroidered dress down the runway with an eye catching bird (wings spread) right in the centre of a plunging neckline. Valentino also had a memorable feathered frock with an Eagle, a symbol of Rome. These two dresses really stood out & now birds are finally in the limelight.

This Zara two-piece crane print suit is a cross between a kimono with the obi (sash) belt & silk pyjamas. The cranes, considered a mystical creature in Japan representing good fortune & longevity, create an Oriental appeal. The culotte pants & blush crane print offer a relaxed & flowy vibe. When trying to pull off a sleepwear to daywear look, always dress up your loungewear with heels or wedges (height is important), a red lip (bright shades) & polished hair (for a glam look). You don't want to look like a lazy grunge who rolled out of bed; you want look stylish luxe like you stood in your boudoir & street styled your best silk or satin pyjamas; only Hugh Hefner can pull off wearing a silk robe to & from bed.

I paired my silk crane suit with Zara satin mules, soft pink YSL ankle straps, a blush bralette, Dior shades, a bold red lip & I can't believe I found a crane ring in my closet. I guess I got the good luck.

DRESS: SCK THE LABEL | SHOES: EGO OFFICIAL | BOMBER: ZARA

SCK The Label (@sckbysofiakapiris) has perfected the dress drape. This dress is tight, the slit is sexy & the drape is in the perfect area to accentuate the slip & deep cut chest. What can I say, I'm a slit slut. My Foreli Luxe Drape Gown in metallic silver was the perfect choice since metallics, metals & shiny alloy type fabrics are doing a tasteful comeback. Even astronaut fashion with silver plastic & aluminum inspired fabrics became hot after the Chanel Rocket at Chanel Fall Winter 2017-2018 Fashion Show.

Since my dress is a lame gold, I chose to pair it with a monochrome grey Zara bomber. A sporty bomber is also great to tone down such a boldly revealing dress. When wearing one shiny piece, don't go overboard, stick to monochromatic accessories since any metallic silver looks dramatic & voguish on its own. I think I electrified this look.

BOMBER: ZARA MEN | PANTS: ZARA MEN | CROP TOP: PRADEGAL | BAG: CHANEL | BOOTS: EGO SHOES

"...not just blue, its not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean." - Miranda Priestly, The Devil Wears Prada

I've been a bit obsessed with blue lately; it's calming, representing the sky and the sea & often associated with depth & stability.

The rich colour of my periwinkle polish stands out against my fashionable oceanic blue hues like an unexpected pop of colour. I wore my men's Zara navy sport track pants with solid greys for a fresh-vibrant look. My grey crop top from Pradegal paired so nicely with my similar shade grey bomber & translucent boots.

BOMBER & DUFFEL: TOMMY HILFIGER | BODYSUIT: VICTORIA'S SECRET | TROUSERS: ZARA | SHOES: CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN

Tom-boyish looks are taking over just as it has become a trend to wear men's oversized clothing. Gigi Hadid's Tommy Hilfiger SS17 collabo put the classic designer on the forefront of fashion this year.

Any time you are doing a unisex, tom-boyish look, you want to add a touch of femininity. I paired my olive Tommy Hilfiger tailored bomber jacket with navy lining with my navy blue lace lingerie from Victoria's Secret, dark navy Zara silk trousers, Louboutin lingerie lace shoes, & Tommy Hilfiger mini travel duffle. Wearing your undergarments on the outside is also a fast forming trend that I am getting accustomed to.

Silky bombers never go out of style & the iconic military & labour piece adaptions are evolving. Bombers are a lightweight, versatile staple in the utilitarian wardrobe. Varsity logos & patches give jackets some uniqueness & layering a masculine bomber gives a trimmer appearance for the flattening wide shoulder touch a men's jacket brings.

Oversized jackets & wide leg pants together can ultimately go wrong but the extremely naked undergarment slims down the entire look to let my inner tom boy shine through with some injected delicate features.

Olive green represents the U.S army field uniforms & navy blue, the British Royal Navy. Someone hand me a dirty martini, 3 parts vodka, 1 part dry vermouth, lemon peel & extra olives to suit my sea of hues.

SWEATER: L'IMPASSE | COAT: ZARA | SANDALS: ALAIA | SUEDE CAP & CHOKER: MISS DIVA BEE

Pink has been a trend for girls from birth. The gender myth teaches women to love the colour & it can represent fertility, power, & spirituality.

The spring trend of pink has transitioned into fall with more saturated hues of blush/rose that can make you positively glow. Pink is not just for the cheeks anymore! My dark rose ripped sweater is feminine & romantic in colour but has an edge with its sporty cut, relaxed fit, & hood. Some girly pinks can make you look washed out so creating a contrast with dark colours can add strength to pastels & pinks which is why I wore it with my grey oversized coat.

The best way to wear pinks is monochromatic outfits mixing layers in cascading shades of blush. The different shades of pink work well together as the accent shade in warm & cool with my @divabeeboutiquecv blush suede hat & Alaia pom pom sandals. I love all types of chokers right now so I added some interest to my look with my @divabeeboutiquecv perspex ring choker.
